How to take care of Your Garden Steel Furniture
Stainless Steel furniture has the unique quality of being rust resistant in moist and unfavorable weather conditions, which makes it stand apart when compared with furniture made of other material such as wood or cane. In outdoor environment such as your garden, balcony or yard, the furniture gets affected by wind, rain and sunlight. These natural forces tend to wear out your furniture and it loses its appearance and shape. Stainless steel furniture is almost completely immune from this effect as this material is durable, strong and corrosion resistant. Stainless steel does not react with oxygen in the climate which protects it from inclement weather effects.
Wooden furniture, on the other hand, is susceptible to sunlight as it can take away its color and shine. You will require frequent polishing or extreme care if you place your wooden furniture in open air. Moreover, wooden furniture is also a target of termites and other insects which will damage it without you having any clue. Cane furniture is more resistant to these weather conditions compared with wood, but it is still far behind steel in terms of strength, durability and resistance to environment effects. Without proper care and maintenance, your wood or cane furniture can easily lose shape. Of course the advantage with cane furniture is the lesser cost; however, if you consider how often you will need to replace your garden furniture, you will definitely choose steel furniture over others.
However, it must be kept in mind that though steel furniture is “resistant” to weather conditions, it is not completely immune to them. So in order to give extra life and durability to your furniture, you should try your best to protect them from extreme weather conditions. Since this furniture is relatively light weight, it is easier to move around. So whenever the furniture is not in use or there is chance of rain or strong sunlight, move your furniture indoors to save excessive maintenance cost. Remember that if your garden furniture is not fully made of steel (i. e. the table top and chair seats are made of wood), you will need to be extra careful with its upkeep and maintenance. Because if the wooden parts are off-color or out of shape, your furniture will look worn out and you’ll have to get these parts replaced.
With stainless steel furniture, proper care and maintenance can ensure that the shine and glow of your steel chairs and steel tables remains relatively stable over time. This furniture will last a very long time if cared for properly. Steel furniture needs to be cleaned at a lesser frequency than other furniture types. One problem with steel furniture is the appearance of water marks after drizzle or rain. In order to avoid this, you should immediately clean your furniture with dry cloth once the rain ends.
When cleaning the dust, grease or other particles from your furniture, remember to use a mild cleaner, as strong – bleach like cleaners can damage the outer surface of steel. Similarly, soft cloth or sponge should be used for cleaning. Abrasive materials can quickly take the glow off the surface of your steel furniture. To remove grease or sticky dirt from your furniture, use warm water, soft cloth or sponge and little amount of mild detergent or dishwashing liquid to clean off the affected area. Wash it off and dry with a soft dry cloth, your furniture will be as good as new. To remove any marks of fingers, use a normal glass cleaner with a piece of cloth. For increased shine, you may occasionally use any steel polish available in the market to give extra luster and spark to your steel furniture.
